Monday Needs A Hero

I've been reading Rock Chick Redemption this weekend. Is there a better hero than Hank "Whiskey" Nightingale?  I don't think so!  Kristen Ashley nailed it this time (honestly, does she ever miss?).

So I bring you an image for Hank.  This is actually John Gioffre and hot! You know you would find yourself in Roxie's same predicament if he had a "conversation" with you!

TBT - Oldie but Goodie

This week's selection is not really all that old.  It was published in 2007 and I have it in a trade paperback.  Jaci Burton is the author and the title is wild, wicked, & wanton.  The subtitle is: Three friends... three secret desires... three chances to make it all come true.  The book is really three short stories featuring Abby, Blair, and Callie.

The book opens with Abby who is about to finish her vet residency but not before her two bosses ask her out.  You just know this is going to be the topic at girls' night when the three friends meet for margaritas. A bet is made between the three women and the fantasies are on!

This book is not for the timid! It includes menage, BDSM, and voyeurism / exhibitionism. Each girl is in a different place in her life with Abby divorced, Blair never married and Callie is widowed. And each has a different fantasy. The guys are hot and the sex is even hotter.

Five Star Books That You Should Read! Now!

It's been a busy week for reading around here! I read two five star books that were both m/m/f  menage books. I've been honest in the past to say that I prefer the m/f/m books but I once again found that view challenged by these books.

The first book was Unexpected Consequences by Sloan Johnson. This book is the third book in her Isthmus Alliance series.  The entire series deals with BDSM relationships but I would say they are primarily heavy on the dominance in the first two books. This one had a bit more going on. The triad relationship is already in place when the book begins but not to the extent that they have opened up to anyone about it. They have been keeping it light and labeling it play.  That all changes when the heroine is involved in an accident and receives some serious injuries. With Mary recuperating, Jeff and Zeke develop a more intense relationship.

Much of the conflict in this book deals with the families. Mary's mother is very judgmental of her daughter's choices. Zeke's family, very Roman Catholic, isn't prepared for him to announce he is bisexual. Working through all of these conflicts is at the heart of this book. I think most people have experienced these sorts of family conflicts whether it is related to choice of a spouse or how you raise your children. Because of that, I think there is much to appeal in this book.  It would be helpful to have read the first two books in the series as the characters from those books will be taking important roles in this book as well.

The second book was Beyond Jealousy by Kit Rocha. This book is the fourth book in the Beyond series and yes you should read the entire series! This series is dystopian in nature and I love it! The authors have created a place known as Sector 4 outside the city of Eden. The city is somewhere in North America and the time is in the future after a huge magnetic pulse takes out the electrical grid of the entire USA.  The event is several generations back and Sector 4 is ruled by the O'Kane gang.

The O'Kanes are bootlegging whiskey into Eden.  They try to keep their sector relatively clean from crimes like drugs and prostitution. Cage fighting is a regular occurrence as is stripping and some wild parties. It is almost as if shame no longer exists in this world. Anything that pleases your body without damaging it is good.  And damaging may not be the right word to use here. Obviously, liquor, tattoos and fighting are encouraged.

This book tells the story of Ace, the tattoo artist for the gang, Rachel, a mechanic and brewer of beer, and Cruz, a former soldier for Eden who has defected to join the O'Kanes. Most of the conflict for the triad in this book is internal for the characters. Ace struggles to believe that he is worthy of their love.  Watching Rachel and Cruz love him through this is amazing.  Their is plenty of O'Kane action going on in this book but I don't want to give you any spoilers.  You'll just have to read it for yourself!

Kristen Ashley Answers a Question

Kristen Ashley is the guest blogger today on Kindle Posts and answers the question "Why do we love bad boys?" and oh what an answer she has! This is one of my favorite parts:

My answer is, when a bad boy seems all bad, the velvet hit we take when he does something sweet cannot be missed. And when he goes all out for the love of his woman, the payoff is so beautiful you’ll want to savor it again and again. - Kristen Ashley

Take time to go read it!  She also shares some insight into one of my favorite heroes, Kane "Tack" Allen from Motorcycle Man.

Monday Needs A Hero

Because Mondays are hard enough on their own, I bring you a hot, hunky hero to start your Monday off right!

This Monday's hero is Greg Cage from Harper Sloan's Cage as well as Uncaged. The couple in this book (Greg and Melissa) refer to each other as Beauty and Beast.  Cage is a sexy, pierced beast for sure!  If you have missed reading the Corps Security series, you need to pick it up! You are missing a whole host of sexy heroes!

This image is actually Alex from Nice, France.

Uncaged by Harper Sloan

I love the men of Corps Security and Greg Cage is probably my favorite since I read his book first. Uncaged overlaps some with Beck's timeline but doesn't rehash the events which I appreciated.  There was a enough angst in this story all on its own!  I was crying by 2/3's into the book and I'm not talking little tears escaping either.

If you haven't read this series, you are missing out on some hot alpha male goodness! You owe it to yourself to pick up these books ASAP! And no one provides comic relief like Cohen Cage.  He's the sweetest 4 year old superhero.

Now it's going to be awhile before I can get my next fix.  I'll be impatiently waiting like many other fans.

Submit and Surrender (Club Volare' #8)

I just finished reading Chloe Cox's Submit and Surrender and I loved it! This eighth book in the Club Volare' series tells the story of Ford and Adra and is set in the California location.  Ford appeared in earlier books first as a club member and attorney in NY.  Adra has always been in the LA location there has been chemistry between the two but now we get to understand what happened in the past and watch them resolve their problems so that they can move forward together.

The story starts with the arrival of Roman and a very pregnant Lola to the club in LA. They have agreed to let a movie use the LA location of Club Volare' for filming and the producer and director have requested subject matter experts to be on hand. Naturally, Ford and Adra are tapped for the experts.  The film also brings in Adra's ex-boyfriend/Dom as the lead actor and Ford's ex-wife and ex-bestfriend are arriving as well because the ex-bestfriend is involved in the financing of the movie.

I don't want to give any spoilers but I will say that the scenes between Ford and Adra are hot, hot, hot. I so enjoyed watching them fall in love and overcome their obstacles.  I have to give this one 5 stars.

This Monday is for Melanoma Awareness

I know I normally bring you a hot guy inspired by a hero from a book on Mondays but today I want to take a moment to talk about something rather serious.  My sister-in-law has melanoma.  She was first diagnosed about 16 years ago.  It came back last spring in a lung and she had the affected lobes removed.  This spring it is back again in her brain, kidneys and colon.  She starts a new course of chemo tomorrow.

Melanoma can be beaten but to do so, you must catch it early.  It's important to get your moles checked and even more important is to protect yourself from sun damage.  Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!  I cannot say it enough!

Here are some links for more information:

March Wait List Update

A couple more books are going on the Wait List for March!  At the top of the list is a novella in Harper Sloan's Corps Security series.  The novella is Uncaged and tells the continuing story of Greg Cage and his wife Melissa as they await the birth of their twin girls.  This is due out March 17th and I am so excited for it.

Coming out at about the same time is Sloan Johnson's third book in the Isthmus Alliance series, Unexpected Consequences.  This one looks to be m/m/f and I'm excited to see where she takes this series.

And then the third book coming out at this same time already on the Wait List is Kit Rocha's Beyond Jealousy which looks to also be m/m/f and the excerpts are so good!

Update to my Update!:

I forgot about Shade's Fall from Jamie Begley which shoud be out March 21st.  Another excellent MC series which you should consider reading. The series is Last Riders.

Finding Freebies and Discounts

One of my favorite places to find free ebooks and discounted ebooks is BookBub.  This awesome site is where I discovered Kit Rocha's Beyond series, Kallypso Masters Rescue Me series and Bianca Sommerland's Dartmouth Cobras series.  And right now, Kallypso has a free book (Masters At Arms) on BookBub as does Bianca (Game Misconduct).

You can find BookBub on Facebook too where they post updates everyday.  If you love ebooks, this is a great resource.  Now go check it out!

TBT - Oldie But Goodie

Today I am reaching way back to one of my favorite books ever.  This one is by Sandra Brown and it is set in my home state and even my home area in this rather large state.  The book is Texas! Sage (Texas! Tyler Family Saga).  It is the third book in the series but it can be read without having read the first two.  The other books are Texas! Lucky and Texas! Chase and they deal with boys in the Tyler family but Sage tells the story of the younger sister making her way into the family business, Tyler Drilling. My only complaint is that the book is not available digitally.  I would be adding it to my kindle if it was.

Here's the blurb:
In the dramatic finale of #1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown’s popular Texas! trilogy, the headstrong youngest daughter of the Tyler family finally steps out of the shadows cast by her two older brothers. But forging her own path will take every ounce of savvy in Sage Tyler’s possession.
The youngest heir to her family’s oil fortune, Sage has always been the unbridled spitfire in the Tyler clan. Now, fresh out of college, she’s looking to settle down at last with her safe, upper-crust fiancĂ©. Then into her life saunters Harlan Boyd, a rootless drifter recently hired for a Tyler Drilling Company project. Harlan’s just the sort of man Sage should avoid, but there’s something irresistible about the laconic cowboy that intrigues her.

Things I Don't Understand

It's release day for the third and final book in a series by K. Bromberg (The Driven series).  I haven't read these books and don't follow Ms. Bromberg but I have heard of the series and seen good reviews.  It just hadn't really hit my list of must read books. Until today.

It seems the internet is full of bullies and they set out to create waves today by saying some very mean things about Ms. Bromberg and her family. I didn't see the posts / reviews, only the responses by other authors and bloggers. It seems such an odd and horrible thing to do. The stir made me go out and buy the first book in the series.  I'll report back after I read it but I suspect that will be the end result of the fuss. More books will be sold to support the author and that is not a bad thing at all.

Monday Needs A Hero

Mondays are hard enough so I like to bring you a hero each week to start it off right!  This week I bring you Trevor Mayson from Until Trevor by Aurora Rose Reynolds.

Weekend Reading

Am I the only one amazed that March is here already?  It means that my baby girl just turned 14 and graduation is just around the corner for my oldest girl.  So in my efforts to deny that these events are happening, I am trying to stay buried in a book or two.

This weekend I have started reading the Until series by Aurora Rose Reynolds.  I had seen the books on Goodreads and even purchased Until November late last year but I hadn't read it. (That seems to happen to me a lot!)  What was I thinking? I can now say I've read it and it was fabulous! I'm 60% through Until Trevor now and loving these books! Until Lilly is out now and on my TBR list.

I'll also say that they make a refreshing change after the gritty, dark MC books I've read recently.  They also fit my hero definition.  The heroines are refreshing too.  They stand up to their men even they don't win all the arguments.
